Beware of Caller ID Spoofing

We’ve been informed by multiple library users that they have received strange calls from from Boonslick Regional Library, where the caller would greet them with “Hi grandma.” These calls are not coming from the library, but from a scammer or prankster using a tactic known as Caller ID Spoofing.

Caller ID Spoofing allows a caller to mask their number with another, usually a well known, trusted number, so that the target of the call is more likely to answer.
